Can You Love a Road?

If you are wondering how someone can love a road, just think about your daily commute, business trips, or a family fun trip down to the coast.  Can you feel the stress already from the congestion we so often experience in Central Texas?  Below are some examples of why you can love this road.

  • SH 130 is an alternative to I-35 congestion. Central Texas’ main artery for generations, I-35 is more congested between Georgetown and San Antonio than at any other point on its entire length from Mexico to Canada. With continued urban growth and cross-border trade, it’s imperative that we create a new, safe, fast and efficient alternative for travel.
  • Improved mobility and choices for Central Texas. In addition to providing relief to I-35, SH 130 Segments 5 & 6 provides new mobility options for the region. SH 130 Segments 5 & 6 makes it easier for Central Texans to get around and travel for jobs, education, recreation or just to see friends and family.
  • A faster way to meet our needs. Traditional funding sources for roads haven’t kept up with the growth of Central Texas. SH 130 Segments 5&6 has been built for the State of Texas at no cost to the taxpayers.  The SH 130 Concession Company put up substantial private equity financing to fund construction of SH 130 Segments 5 & 6. Progress on SH 130 Segments 5 & 6 languished for years due to lack of funds, before the decision was made to adopt toll financing. Tolls allow us to build the roads we need when we need them – which is right now.
