Toll Rates to Change for SH 130 Segments 5 and 6
Cars with TxTag Accounts Still Pay Lowest Rate
MUSTANG RIDGE, Texas – Beginning Monday, November 11, 2013, toll rates for the main lanes of Texas State Highway 130 Segments 5 and 6 will change. The year-old road spans approximately 41 miles, from Mustang Ridge to Seguin.
The base toll rate for a light vehicle (such as a family car or pickup truck) will be 15.8 cents per mile or $6.48 to travel the entire length of the new roadway. The base toll rate for an 18-wheeler will be 63.1 cents per mile or $25.89 to travel the entire length of the new roadway. These base toll rates will be charged to vehicles using a TxTag device. From April 1, 2013 through March 30, 2014, trucks using SH 130 will pay the light vehicle toll rate due to a discount incentive by the Texas Department of Transportation. The truck discount can save drivers almost 80 percent of the cost of traveling the toll road.
These base toll rates will be charged to vehicles using a TxTag device. TxTag is an electronic toll collection sticker applied to the inside windshield of cars and trucks. Drivers can open a TxTag account at www.TxTag.org.
Users of the North Texas Tollway Authority’s TollTag and the Harris County Toll Road Authority’s EZ TAG can also pay the base rate to drive on the southern portions of SH 130.
Drivers who do not own a TxTag, TollTag or EZ TAG, will receive a bill in the mail and will pay a rate no more than 33 percent higher than the base rate.
The toll rates for SH 130 Segments 5 and 6 were set in the original Facilities Concession Agreement contract between the SH 130 Concession Company, LLC and the Texas Department of Transportation. Once per year, the rate may be adjusted based on the performance of the state’s economy as determined by the state’s gross domestic product per capita. This year’s annual adjustment was an increase of roughly 3/4 of a penny per mile for light vehicles.

SH 130 Concession Co. operates and maintains Segments 5 & 6 of SH 130 from Mustang Ridge to Seguin, Texas. The 41-mile section of the toll road immediately south of Austin offers a speed limit of 85 MPH. The road is owned by the State of Texas, which has leased the facility to SH 130 Concession Company until 2062.
