Making Progress on Reconstruction
As many families prepare to hit the road for holiday travel, we want to remind everyone to stay alert and drive safely, especially around road construction zones.
SH 130 Concession Co. is now six weeks in to our year long, $60 million improvement program to fix pavement problems and improve ride quality along the roadway.
We’re happy to report that the work remains on schedule despite the recent rain and Thanksgiving break.
Currently we have eight work zones along the right-side northbound lanes of SH 130 with two more scheduled to open by the end of the year.
Our contractor Jordan Foster Construction has removed between five and eight feet of soil and materials in many work zones and begun treating the soil with lime in order to stabilize moisture levels and prevent pavement cracking in the future.
We will continue working on the northbound lanes for the first few months of 2018, switching to the left lanes once work on all of the right lanes is completed.
Reconstruction along the southbound lanes is expected to begin in early Spring 2018.
The project has not caused any traffic backups to date, and we do not anticipate any congestion in the coming months.
Construction will be suspended Dec. 23 – 26 and Dec. 31 – Jan. 1 for the holidays, but we ask that everyone please continue to take extra precautions and adhere to the reduced 65 mph speed limit as construction barriers will remain in place.
Happy holidays from all of us at SH 130 Concession Co. We look forward to serving you in the New Year.
