Rain, Rain Go Away

Dec 7, 2018

Good news! Drivers will see significantly less construction on the southern section of SH 130 by the end of the year.

SH 130 Concession Co. will ring in 2019 with only one active construction zone along the northbound lanes and just four along the southbound lanes.

Together these five work areas will impact less than three miles of the 41-mile southern section of SH 130.

As we reported in October, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately, our general contractor, Jordan Foster, lost 46 workdays to rain and wet conditions in September and October alone, bringing the total number of weather-related lost days to 96 since we began the project late last year.

Jordan Foster has worked hard to make up lost days, including working seven days a week and at night when possible to do so safely.

The project is now approximately 80 percent completed with the remaining work now scheduled to finish in February.

Such a major reconstruction project should never have been necessary on a road open only six years. However, like the weather, the quality of the road’s original design and construction was beyond the control of SH 130 Concession’s new owners and leadership team.

We’re working hard and investing significant money to fix the problems so that we can give Texas drivers — and eventually the State of Texas — the high-quality, high-speed road they deserved to have from the beginning.

We appreciate your continued patience and welcome any questions or feedback that you have at reconstruction@sh130cc.com.
