Reconstruction begins along southbound lanes

SH 130 Concession Co. and our general contractor Jordan Foster Construction recently began reconstruction work on the southbound lanes of SH 130.

This latest phase of our $60 million improvement project begins as work continues on the northbound lanes. Despite weather delays due to this year’s unusually rainy winter, reconstruction of the northbound lanes is now about 65 percent completed.

There are now 18 active construction zones along the 41-mile southern section of SH 130. As in the northbound lanes, the speed limits in the southbound work zones are reduced to 65 mph and the zones will be staggered every few miles to allow faster traffic the opportunity to pass.

We’re pleased to report that no construction-related accidents have occurred during the first six months of construction, nor have we experienced any construction-related backups or congestion.

Major milestones reached to date include the completion and re-opening of the Lockhart intersection and northbound on-ramp from I-10 to SH 130.

We continue to prepare for major improvements to the Boggy Creek Road Overpass with the installation of new retaining walls along the frontage roads now underway.

Much work remains, but we anticipate that the pace of construction will increase as summer arrives and the weather improves.

We’d like to thank all of our customers on SH 130, drivers of the frontage roads and businesses along the corridor for their patience as we work to improve ride quality.

Stay tuned for more construction updates in the coming months.
